About

Born in Le Bic, Quebec, Julien Perreault is a self-taught fiber artist and the maker behind Thread & Grounds, a small crochet brand rooted in a love of texture, slow fashion, and everyday comfort.
After years of painting and exploring abstract art, Julien discovered crochet during the pandemic. What began as a quiet pastime soon grew into a deeply fulfilling craft. With every stitch, he found a way to slow down, reconnect with himself, and transform simple materials into timeless pieces meant to be worn, cherished, and lived in.
Now based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, he balances his military career with his creative practice, drawing inspiration from the northern landscape, cold mornings, and the warmth of coffee under a blanket. His designs are minimalist, inviting, and thoughtfully functional.
“Creativity doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes it’s just the steady rhythm of a hook and the quiet comfort of making something that feels like home.”
