From Summer Tee to Cozy Fall Sweater

Good day everyone!
It’s been a while since I last posted here. 🤦 I had every intention of coming back sooner with an update, but let’s just say a few discoveries along the way pushed this one a little further down the line.
I wanted to talk about the Pier Tee, originally worked in single crochet with a 4.5 mm hook and a lovely DK yarn, but… let’s be honest. Once I got to the sleeves, I realized the armhole depth was WAY too big. Like, miles of fabric too big. I couldn’t even make the short sleeve I had in mind without turning it into some kind of cap sleeve just to make it look okay. Which, after more than a month of work, felt… not okay at all. 😩
BUT! If the armholes were a disaster, the neckline? Pure magic. A soft U-shape that fell just right. It immediately sparked something in me, and suddenly the Pier Tee wasn’t a tee anymore. It was destined to become a sweater. The Pier Sweater!
And honestly, that shift felt kind of perfect. Fall is my absolute favourite season!
The pattern’s still in the works. I’m taking my time to make sure the sizing is inclusive and that everything’s properly calculated. Numbers… 🫣 not always my besties. 😑
For now, I made a version for myself in Berroco Vintage (Cast Iron), with a delicate touch of Blue Sky Fibers Prairie Fingering (Raven) held in. The result? Just the right amount of softness for cool nights and those early morning coffees on the balcony. It’s worked in double crochet, so the fabric is a bit more airy. Perfect for that in-between season feel.
You know, the kind of sweater you keep at your desk because it works all year long? Or the one you throw on at home when you need something warm and comforting? Yeah. That’s the vibe.
Release is planned for early October and I can’t wait to show you more. I even ordered some special yarn just for the photoshoot. I’m really excited for how it’s all coming together!
If you'd like to try the pattern in advance, I’m always looking for beta testers. Just shoot me a message at info@threadandgrounds.com and I’ll send over all the details.
As always, this pattern is unisex, made for anyone who wants to feel cozy and confident.
Have a great day! 🎃
